How Governor Ododo Prevented the Arrest of Yahaya Bello by the EFCC

 The incumbent governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo, helped evade the arrest of embattled former governor of the state, Yahaya Bello, by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Wednesday.


Ododo was said to have arrived with heavy security around 2:30 pm on Wednesday.


 Approximately two hours later, at precisely 4:20 pm, it was garhered, Governor Ododo's convoy departed with Yahaya Bello in the governor's vehicle.


Approximately 10 minutes after the departure of the governor and former governor, EFCC operatives who had been besieging Bello’s home withdrew from Benghazi street, Wuse Zone 4, Abuja.

 Roughly 20 minutes later, the police, Department of State Security operatives, Counter Terrorism Unit operatives, and other security personnel guarding Bello’s residence also departed.


Confirming the incident to newsmen, a source who requested anonymity stated:



'The former governor has departed. He left with Governor Ododo, who just drove away with his security detail.'


Meanwhile, an anonymous EFCC source remarked, 'Bello has absconded with the Kogi State Governor, Ododo. Our operatives were unable to detain the governor.'


Officers of the Nigeria Police Force and armed individuals dressed in black with the inscription 'Special Forces' had earlier obstructed EFCC operatives from apprehending Bello at his Abuja residence.


EFCC operatives had arrived at Bello’s residence on Benghazi street, Wuse Zone 4, Abuja, around 9:30 pm on Wednesday.


The EFCC operatives were barred by some police officers and other armed individuals guarding the ex-governor from entering the premises."
