Following the runway mishap experienced by an aircraft belonging to Dana Air, The Federal Government of Nigeria has imposed an immediate suspension on the airline's operational activities. The suspension comes one day after an aircraft with 83 passengers onboard and belonging to Dana Air, skidded off the runaway at The Murtala Muhammed Airport, on the morning of Tuesday 23rd April, 2024. The latest of Dana Air comes less than two years after the suspension of the airline's operational license on 20th July 2022, after it was deemed financially unfit to maintain operations.

The airline's notice of suspension was contained in a letter addressed to the director-general of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) by the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development. The letter emphasized a suspension of all aircraft belonging to Dana Air until a thorough audit is carried out. The audit is to encompass all all aspects of safety protocols, maintenance procedures, and financial health to ensure full compliance with aviation regulations.
