Bobrisky was apprehended on Wednesday, April 3, for allegedly showering money at an event in Lagos state on March 24.
The EFCC stated that Bobrisky's arrest was related to actions that were deemed as misuse of the Nigerian currency during a movie premiere.
Confirming the arrest, the commission's spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, mentioned that Bobrisky was detained for currency mutilation and disrespecting the Naira.
Oyewale added that Bobrisky is currently held in the commission's facility in Lagos state.
The EFCC's Lagos Zonal Command launched an inquiry into Bobrisky for purportedly contravening laws against Naira spraying.
In a statement, the EFCC revealed that the investigation stemmed from a video circulating online showing Bobrisky spraying and displaying bundles of new Naira notes at the Ajakaju movie premiere on March 24, 2024.
Furthermore, the investigation uncovered additional instances where Bobrisky allegedly engaged in similar conduct at various event venues and parties.
The anti-corruption agency also announced that Bobrisky would face legal charges once investigations are concluded.
