Anambra Police Launch Comprehensive Investigation into Fatal Boat Mishap Involving Actor Jnr Pope and Others

 

The Anambra state police command has launched a comprehensive investigation into the tragic boat accident that led to the untimely demise of actor Jnr Pope and four others.

 According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the command's spokesperson, the investigation aims to determine whether any individual bears criminal responsibility for the incident.

In a statement, Commissioner of Police CP Aderemi Adeoye expressed condolences to the families affected by the accident, which occurred on the River Niger while the crew was en route from Anambra West LGA to Asaba for a film shoot.

The Anambra Command Marine Police conducted rescue operations, saving six actors and one actress, while two unconscious individuals were rescued with the help of local fishermen and transported to Delta State Command Marine Police Jetty.

Despite the accident occurring within Anambra's jurisdiction, the release of the victims' bodies for burial arrangements falls under the purview of the Delta State Police Command.

 CP Adeoye extended sympathies to the families, friends, and fans of the deceased actors and initiated a thorough investigation to uncover any potential criminal culpability related to the mishap.
