Video: Nigerian Lesbian Professor Announces Engagement to Partner

 Nigerian-American professor, researcher, social commentator and gay rights activist, Dr Uju Anya, has taken to her social media platform to announce her engagement to her lesbian partner, Sirry Alang. While stating that she had been shocked at the proposal, the professor revealed that her partner had asked her to be her wife in the presence of their children and dear friends.

Dr Uju Anya is a professor at the Carnegie Mellon University, Department of Modern Languages. In 2021, the Nigerian born lecturer who had legally separated from her husband in 2017, announced on Twitter that she had just finalized her divorce with her husband and openly revealed that she was a lesbian. In a statement released on Twitter, the Professor wrote that her ex-husband had been aware of her sexuality before they got married, but she had thought at the time that she was bisexual. Uju Anya first gained the attention of Nigerian netizens as a result of the global outrage she sparked after she took to her verified Twitter handle to mock the late Queen Elizabeth II‘s health condition hours before her death.
