POS Operator Returns 10 Million Naira;Receives Police Commendation

 The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Gumel, has commended the honesty of a POS Operator named Mohammed Sani Abdulrahman, who refunded the sum of 10,000 million naira that had erroneously transferred to his account by a customer. According to the statement released by Public Relations Officer of The Kano State Police, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the 37 year old POS Operator had on 21st December 2023, reported reported himself at the Bompai Police Headquarters Kano where he informed police officers that one of his customers(whom he had no means of locating) had overpaid into his POS business, the sum of N9,990,000. Apparently, while the customer had attempted to make an online transfer of ten thousand naira only, he has miscalculated the zeros and had instead, transferred the sum of ten million naira o the POS Operator.

Police search and investigation revealed that the customer who erroneously credited the POS merchant with the sum of ten million naira was a businessman at the Dawanau Grain Market in Kano Metropolis. The press statement by the Police PRO further revealed that the money(the excess balance of 9,90,000) has been returned to the original owner who in awe and appreciation of the POS Operator's generator had gifted the sum of 500,000 naira(five hundred thousand naira).

 The Commissioner of Police, upon meeting the honest merchant, commended the POS operator for “his honesty and good conduct” while referring to the gesture as rare. The Kano State CP encouraged other Nigerians to emulate the honesty of the POS Operator.
