North Korea Bans Keeping of Dogs as Pets

Stating a reason for the decision to enforce the ban(which was first decreed in August 2023) on keeping dogs as pet, the regime of North Korea stated: "Treating a dog as a family member, who eats and sleeps with the family, is incompatible with the socialist lifestyle and should be strictly avoided. North Koreans now risk the wrath of the regime if they keep dogs as pets as opposed to the decree of keeping them for meat and fur, as the North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un , has decided that dogs represent "Western decadence".
