The Lagos State Government has revealed plans to turn the popular location referred to as Ijora Under-Bridge, into a recreational space. This announcement comes after the expiration of the five day eviction notice issued unauthorized inhabitants of the bridge, via construction of makeshift structures, by the commissioner of environment, Tokunbo Wahab. The commissioner who disclosed the government's intention to turn Ijora Under-Bridge into a recreational space, via a post across his social media handles, assured citizens that the decision aims to restore public space for the benefits of Lagosians.

The Honourable Commissioner of Environment, Tokunbo Wahab further stated that; "The transformation of Ijora Under-Bridge is poised to complement the adjacent National Theatre Complex’s ongoing refurbishment, symbolizing a comprehensive ‘Renewed Hope’ approach to urban regeneration, and further enhancing the quality of life for the citizens of Lagos."
