Following the tragic death of Herbert Wigwe, group managing director and CEO of Access Bank, alongside his wife, son and three other passengers in a helicopter crash which occurred on Friday February 9, close to the California -Nevada border, and the ensuing controversial birthday party organised by the Pastor Siju Iluyomade, wife of the resident pastor of RCCG City of David, just a week after the deaths of the Wigwes, the family has released funeral plans with the RCCG City of David Parish conspicuously missing from the funeral service arrangements.

Herbert Wigwe and his immediate family had been devoted members of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) City of David Parish before their tragic deaths. Harsh criticism and negative reactions followed pastor Siju Iluyomade's lavish sixtieth birthday party which held barely a week after the deaths of three members of the Wigwe family in a helicopter crash in the USA.
According to the funeral announcement, the Wigwes burial rites will begin with a celebration of the professional legacy of the former GCEO of Access Holdings at the Eko Hotel in Lagos on March 4, and will end with an outing service at the Redeemed Christian Church Of God (RCCG), Lion of Judah Parish, Isiokpo, Ikwerre LGA, Rivers, on March 10.The lives of Chizi and Chizoba will be celebrated in separate ceremonies scheduled for March 5 at the Eko Hotel in Lagos, before a night of tribute a day later at the same venue. A combined service of songs will be held on March 7 at the RCCG, Resurrection Parish, Lekki, followed by a Christian wake-keep at Wigwe University, Isiokpo, Ikwerre LGA, Rivers. The combined funeral and private internment service are scheduled for March 9.
