A security guard identified as Nurudeen Shehu, who worked as a security at Prestige International College, a school located in the Gwale Local Government Area of Kano state, committed suicide after receiving news of his ex-wife's remarriage. Confirming the incident, Kano State Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, revealed that on Sunday 29th January 2024, the 37 year old security guard had been found hanging lifelessly from the ceiling in one of the classrooms at his place of employment.

The Police Commissioner also explained that Shehu Nurudeen had been cut loose from the ceiling by police officers from the Gwale Division, whereupon, he was rushed to the Murtala Mohammed General Hospital and subsequently declared dead on arrival by doctors. CP Usaini Gumel who affirmed that the body of the deceased had been handed over to his relatives for a funeral, assured that investigation would be thoroughly carried out regarding the apparent suicide of the security guard.
