Men Arrested for Staging Street Carnival

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested three men in the Sasha Akwonjo area of the state for disturbing the peace by attempting to stage a carnival. The men identified as Julius Osimirin, 43, Ajewole Ajugba, 42 and sixteen year old teenager Isiaka Kabiru, were arrested for disregarding existing laws regulating the use of speakers in public in the state.

In a statement posted on social media by Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundenyin, the arrest of the carnival planners sequel to the directives of the Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, mni to the Commander, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi to bring to book any person found attempting to break these laws.
The Police PRO also revealed that officers of the law had earlier met with the organisers of the carnival, advising them on the need to get a hall for their carnival and stay away from shutting down streets or disturbing public peace.
