LASG Orders Immediate Closure of Lekki Conservation Centre

 Following the now viral video recorded by a tourist visiting the Lekki Conservation Centre where he detailed the extremely dilapidated appearance of the canopy walk, The Lagos State Government has ordered an immediate closure of the centre. In addition to the immediate closure, the government ordered that repairs be be extensively carried out on various parts of the center  observed to be hazardous to tourists. Leading a team to see the rundown appearance of the conservation center on Tuesday 23rd January 2024, Director-General of Lagos State Safety Commission, Lanre Omojola, assured the public that the safety of Lagos residents remained the highest priority of the state government at all times.

The Lekki Conservation Centre (LCC)is a 78-hectare (190-acre) Natural Resource Conservation located in Lekki, Lagos State Nigeria. Established in 1990 to serve as biodiversity conservation icon and environment education centre, the facility was built by the Chevron Corporation for the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF), as a reserved sanctuary for the rich flora and fauna of the Lekki Peninsula. The Lekki Conservation Centre has the Longest Canopy walkway in Africa.
