Kebbi Government Holds Mass Wedding Ceremony for Widows and Divorcees

 The government of Kebbi state has sponsored the mass wedding ceremony of over three hundred widows and divorcées in the state. The ceremony which held at the Abdullahi Fodio palace in Gwandu Emirate, Birnin Kebbi on Sunday 28th January, was organised by the state government in collaboration with the Nafisa Nasir Charity Development Foundation, an initiative owned by the Governor's wife, Hajia Nafisa Nasir Idris.

In the course of  the ceremony,  Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman-Ankwe, who was representing the governor, announced plans for periodic mass weddings to unite less privileged individuals as husbands and wives. Buttressing the speaker's assertion, First lady of Kebbi state, Hajia Nafisa Nasir who was present at the occasion, thanked her husband, Dr Nasir Idris for supporting her initiave and urged the newly married couples to love and respect one another, in order to have blissful marital unions.
