Politician and physician Adedoyin Ajibike Okupe better known as Dr. Doyin Okupe, who was the former director general of the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Organisation in the 2023 February elections, has resigned his membership of the Labour Party. In a press briefing announcing his resignation, Doyin Okupe cited "ideological differences" as a reason for his departure from the Labour Party.

In his resignation notice which took effect from Monday 8th January 2023, Doyin Okupe thanked the Labour Party's presidential candidate in the 2023 election Mr Peter Obi, and other members of the party for the cordiality and respect accorded him as the Director General of the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Organisation.” While maintaining that he has neither "grouse" or "guile", Doyin Okupe's resignation from the Labour Party comes almost 13 months after the former special adviser stepped down as DG of the campaign organisation, following what he described as "personal travails."
