Police Officer Shot Dead by Lover

 A policeman identified as Cosmas Ugwu and attached to The Imo state Police Command, has been shot dead by his lover. According to reports, Cosmas was shot with his police issued rifle by his 23 year old lover, Amanda Uchechi Ugo, at about 6:30pm Boxing Day, Tuesday 26th December, 2023. Police officers stated that the incident took place at the deceased's room in  Ezinihitte Area Command and further claimed to have heard three gunshots from the room before they rushed in on the crime scene. It is unknown at the time of this report why the 23 year old turned her lover's gun on him.

Public Relations Officer of the Imo State Police Command, Henry Okoye, who confirmed the incident to the press, revealed that the the girlfriend of the deceased officer had been arrested and the police is " doing everything to ensure we investigate the matter, to ascertain the fact and possibly arraign the suspect in court."  The Police PRO also stated that the remains of the murdered officer had been deposited at the Obizi mortuary.
