OpenAI (ChatGPT) CEO, Sam Altman Sacked

OpenAI, has announced the sack of its CEO, Sam Altman with the board saying it lost confidence in his ability to lead.

The ChatGPT company made this known on Friday in an internal announcement and the company's public-facing blog.

38-year old CEO Altman revolutionised the brand with the release of ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence AI chatbot with unprecedented capabilities.

Altman with his team became a tech world sensation when the ChatGPT churned out human-level content like poems or artwork in just seconds.

Altman became the darling of the tech world, travelling the world to meet with political leaders and huge audiences fascinated by the promise and threats of AI.

His dismissal by the board came as a surprise to many with different versions of the reasons for his sack coming up in conspiracies.

OpenAI's board in a statement to justify Altman's sack said his departure "follows a deliberative review process", which concluded "he was not consistently candid in his communications with the board, hindering its ability to exercise its responsibilities".

"The board no longer has confidence in his ability to continue leading OpenAI," it concluded.

As it that was not enough, Altman's ally and OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman, was pushed from the company's board in the shake-up and announced late in the day that he quit.

"I'm super proud of what we've built ... but based on today's news, I quit," Brockman said in a post on X.

"I continue to believe in the mission of creating safe AGI (artificial general intelligence) that benefits all of humanity."
