Couple Who Got Suspended And Fined With Wedding Cancelled Over Pregnancy Got Wedded In Another Church

 A couple whose wedding was cancelled in Aba, Abia State by their church, have gone ahead with the wedding, in another church.

The groom identified as Mr Israel Kennedy, was to wed his lover identified as Miss Rose, in an Assemblies of God Church at 158 Ikot Ekpene road in Aba, but the wedding was cancelled as Miss Rose was discovered to be pregnant, by the church, a few hours to the wedding.

The board of the church decided to cancel the wedding in accordance with the laws establishing the church that totally forbids pregnancy before marriage.

Israel Kennedy and Rose were suspended and fined by the church for defaulting in the church’s law, with the marriage cancellation leaving the couple and their guests disappointed as they had already spent a huge amount of money to prepare for the wedding and reception.

 Kennedy and his wife with the support of his family members and in-laws got a new church in the Enyimba city who agreed to join them together as husband and wife.

The new church agreed to wed the couple based on its own constitution.

The church modus operandi allows the wedding of such couples once the traditional marriage rites have been completely performed.

A friend of the couple, Uche Simeon said:

“The man and his wife are now happy that they have become husband and wife.

“The embarrassment of last Sunday has been wiped away and they are not even bothered about any more sanctions from their original church", he said.
