Comedian Basketmouth Announces Retirement Plan

 Comedian and skitmaker Bright Okpocha popularly known as Basketmouth, has revealed his intention to retire from the comic industry in 5 years.  The 45 year old stand-up comedian stated this intention in an interview with Arise TV, he explained his plan of retirement after completing a final run of yearly comedy shows. Basketmouth further revealed that when he retires in 5 years at the age of 50, his post-retirement plans include pursue interests like film making, music production and spending time with his family. The comedian however clarified that even in retirement, he would not be abandoning comedy entirely as he has plans to make occasional appearances and participate in special projects.

Recognised as one of the pioneers of stand-up comedy in Nigeria, Basketmouth is an ace comedian who has organised popular stand-up comedy concerts like Basketmouth Uncensored across the globe. In 2005 and 2006, Basketmouth won the National Comedy Award and the awards for Best Stand-up Comedian of the Year. He was nominated at the 2021 maiden edition of The Humour Awards Academy alongside fellow comedian Oga Sabinus.
