ASAP Rocky Set to Stand Trial for Shooting Former Friend

 American rapper Rakim Athelaston Mayers professionally known as ASAP Rocky, is set to stand trial for firing a handgun at a former friend. Prosecutors say the rapper pointed and fired a handgun at Terell Ephron better known as ASAP Relli, on November 6 2021, causing him minor injuries. If found guilty, ASAP Rocky could receive a prison sentence as long as nine years, CCTV footage of the alleged assault that was played in court shows ASAP Rocky wielding and firing the gun. His lawyers however deny that it's their client in the video. The rapper has previously served a two-week sentence for dealing drugs in 2006.

ASAP Rocky has been in a relationship with Barbadian singer Rihanna since 2021 and they have two sons in 2022 and 2023 respectively. Rocky has won a BET Award, two BET Hip Hop Awards, an MTV Video Music Award Japan and an MTVU Woodie Award, as well as being nominated for two Grammy Awards, six World Music Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards and two MTV Europe Music Awards.
