Following the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency's disclosure of 340 recorded male victims of domestic violence between September 2022 and July 2023 and exposed in the agency's quarterly report, the Lagos State Government has urged men who have been subjected to any kind of domestic abuse by their wives to come forward and seek redress for the physical and emotional harm meted on them.

Speaking to members of the press, Executive Secretary of the Lagos Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency(DSVA), Mrs Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, stated that the Lagos State laws against domestic violence isn't gender-biased but enacted to protect all victims of domestic abuse. Mrs Vivour-Adeniyi further stated that the Lagos State Government is willing to provide legal protection for male victims of domestic violence as well as access to support services and counselling. On the 340 cases of domestic violence, The Executive Secretary of the DSVA clarified that 75 per cent of the documented cases were verbal and emotional abuse, 10 per cent were physical abuse while 15 per cent were threats to life.
