LASG Airlifts 300 Jerusalem Pilgrims;NCPC Suspends Pilgrimage to Israel

Governor of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced the successful airlift of 310 Nigerian citizens who went on pilgrimage to Jerusalem, Israel. The governor made this announcement on his social media platforms on Tuesday 10th October, 2023. Christian pilgrims were evacuated from Israel as a result of the ongoing bloody conflict between the State of Israel and Hamas militant group which has claimed thousands of lives. The Nigerian government has also warned its citizens against making trips to the holy land until further notice.

As further means to protect Christian pilgrims, The Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission also announced a suspension of all pilgrimages to Israel and Jordan as a result of the ongoing crisis. This decision  was made public on the morning of Tuesday 10th October 2023, via a statement signed by Head of Operations of the NCPC, Abu Okpanachi, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Yakubu Pam. Pilgrims from other countries have also been seen leaving Israel in large groups.
