Car dealer and businesman Ikechukwu Ogbonna, popularly known as IVD, has been with involuntary manslaughter(which is contrary to Section 229 of the Criminal Law of Lagos) at The Ikeja High Court, by the Lagos State Government through The Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP). IVD pled not guilty to the charge and the trial has commenced before Justice Modupe Nicole-Clay. DSP Fetuga Olatunji, who was led in evidence by counsel to the Lagos State Government, confirmed that the late Abimbola had filed a petition against her husband before her demise.

Ikechukwu Ogbonna popularly known as IVD, first became the subject of media attention and police investigation in October 2022 when he had been accused of setting his wife, Bimbo Ogbonna on fire, by her siblings. Bimbo died after sustaining fatal injuries in the fire that engulfed their residence at Megamound Estate, Lekki. Prior to her death, the couple had been in the news in recent years over domestic violence; several videos of the duo are on the internet as well as cryptic posts by Bimbo citing domestic violence, assault, infidelity and emotional abuse done to her by her h
usband.
