"Allow Nigerians Buy AK-47" Katsina Governor Advises FG

Executive Governor of Katsina state, Dikko Umaru Radda, has advised the Federal Government to reform its laws and allow individuals/private citizens buy and own weapons such as AK-47 rifles and RPGs for self-defence. Speaking to the press in Abuja on Friday, October 20, The Governor stated: “It is a double-edged sword. We cannot fold our arms and say we will not protect ourselves because we don’t have the sophisticated arms that these bandits have".

Governor Radda defended his assertion by stating that gunmen directly purchase their guns and ammunition in open markets and are not prevented by law. The governor also highlighted the failure of  state governors to address security issues in their respective states. Governor Radda warned gunmen in his state that he was fully prepared to put every measure in place to permanently chase them out of Katsina.
