Tinubu Appoints New CBN Governor

 Following the suspension of governor of Central Bank Godwin Emefiele, his ensuing legal tussle and appointment of Folashodun Shonubi as acting governor,  President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Dr Olayemi Michael Cardoso  as new governor of Nigeria's apex bank. The new governor is to serve a term of five years which is open to subsequent reappointment.

Dr Olayemi Michael Cardoso, widely known as Yemi Cardoso, is a prominent figure in Nigerian finance and public policy. With a career spanning over three decades, he has made significant contributions to the private and public sectors, leaving an indelible mark on the country's economic landscape. He served as tlformer chairman of Citibank Nigeria and was the Commissioner for Lagos State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget. Dr Cardoso is the founding chairman and co-chair of Ehingbeti Summit, the Lagos state economic summit.
