Nigerians were taken aback by the ruling of the Osun State Electoral Tribunal on the Osun State 2022 governorship election. The Tribunal in its majority decision sacked senator Isiaka Adeleke as the governor of Osun State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was ordered by the tribunal to issue certificate of return to former governor of Osun, Adegboyega Oyetola at the expense of Adeleke. According to the majority decision of the tribunal, there were some over voting in some polling units.
However, a former Director, Voter Education and Publicity, INEC, Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, while speaking to Channels tv, faulted the decision of the Tribunal. According to him, the BVAS report reportedly tendered to the tribunal by the All Progressive Congress (APC) and upon which the tribunal made its decision, was not the final and correct report of the BVAS.
" The second [tribunal] member – the honourable justice who dissented from his two colleagues – said, ‘I would rather use the primary source of this information, and the primary source of this data is actually the machine itself,'” the INEC official said.
“It is basically a computer. So, rather than go to the server where it transmitted data, I would use the printout from the machine itself.

"The machines were tendered, so were the reports from the server, and there ought not to have been a discrepancy, but somewhere along the line, not all the data had been transmitted at the time the APC obtained the certified copy of the initial server report.”
