A South African male identified by the mononym Saheed, has arrived Mecca, Saudi Arabia after three years of trekking. He left his homeland South Africa three years ago to begin the extremely long trek to Mecca.
According to Saheed, he walked through countries like Kenya, Egypt, Sudan and Palestine. He had to temporarily halt his journey in Palestine when COVID-19 forced the country to close its borders. He resumed his trek after the border was reopened. He walked through Jordan and on to Medina before finally arriving Mecca.
Saheed says he's fulfilled and happy to have reached Mecca just in time for the 2022 Hajj. When asked of his plans for a return trip, Saheed declared that he intends to walk back to his country. Looks like we have a modern day Mungo Park in our midst. See you in 2025, Saheed.
