R. Kelly Removed From Suicide Watch

Convicted American singer, R Kelly, has gotten a small victory in a mini legal battle against the US federal authorities.  He has been removed from suicide watch after his attorneys filed a lawsuit claiming that the singer was placed on suicide watch as a form of punishment. Prison authorities insisted that he had been placed on suicide watch due to the emotional distress of his current situation.

Last week, R Kelly was sentenced to a prison term of 30 years for sexual exploitation and abuse of women and underaged girls. He is incarcerated at a federal correctional facility in Brooklyn.  R Kelly still faces future trial in Chicago on child pornography and obstruction charges alongside various smaller charges in Minnesota.

There is indeed a lot of truth to the expression how the mighty has fallen.  We hope that R Kelly's conviction will be a constant deterrent to intending sex offenders who think they can get away with such evil deed. We also hope that a country like Nigeria can imitate the swift justice system of America when dealing with offending celebrities.
