On Wednesday 13 July 2022, a video of the APC's presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the APC's grand rally for the Osun state gubernatorial election went viral after he threw insultive digs at the Labour Party. The jab was thrown in Yoruba language which when loosely translated means "They said they're Labour, they will remain labourers till death". This utterance by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has attracted widespread criticism from Nigerians. Many declared that the APC's presidential candidate was acting like a child whose biscuit was taken away from his mouth.

Labour Party's presidential aspirant, Peter Obi who was also in Osogbo to support the LP's governorship candidate addressed the crowd and gave a response to the insult remark thrown at LP by the APC's presidential candidate. In his words, "I listened to our chairman when he said that somebody said that ‘they can labour till death.’ When they show you hatred, Labour Party will show them love. There is dignity in labour.”
Mr Obi also called on the people of Osun to support the LP's governorship candidate Lasun Yusuf, at the polls. He urged the residents not to sell their votes. He also told them to take money from whomever offered but still vote for LP.
