Labour Party Reveal's Peter Obi's Running Mate

The Labour Party has finally declared founder and Pro-chancellor of Baze University, Dr Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed the vice-presidential running mate to presidential aspirant Mr Peter Obi. Dr Baba-Ahmed is a 48 year old economist who started his political career in 2003.

He served as representative for Zaria federal constituency, Kaduna state from 2003-2007. While serving as a federal representative, Dr Baba-Ahmed earned his PhD at the University of Westminster after obtaining his first and second degrees from the University of Maiduguri, Borno state.  In 2011, He founded Baze University, an independent university located in Abuja. Dr Baba-Ahmed has said that the "appalling" educational system in Nigeria prompted and inspired him to establish the university.

During the tenure of former president Olusegun Obasanjo, Dr Baba-Ahmed was popular for his activism and outspokenness against corruption. He was one of the lawmakers who vehemently opposed allowing president Obasanjo run for a third term in office.

This is indeed an impressive resumé. Peter Obi's vice-presidential running mate is considerably younger than most.  The Labour Party should be applauded for choosing a candidate with such fine intellectual achievements. At least, Nigerians don't have to worry about this candidate's certificate.
