On Thursday evening, in Makarfi local government area in Kaduna State, dozens of passengers lost their lives after a crash involving two 18-seater buses and a Volkswagen Golf occurred.

Eye witnesses estimate that not lesser than 30 persons who were trapped in the vehicles were severely burnt before leading to their deaths. Their bodies were deposited in a morgue nearby.
According to the Zaria zone of the Federal Road Safety officials, the accident was caused by dangerous overtaking by one of the vehicles. Some passengers who survived the crash were not without injuries and were immediately rushed to the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital.
