Veteran actor, Sola Onayiga best known for playing the role of Ireti in the popular sitcom series Fuji House of Commotion produced by late Amaka Igwe, is dead. Sola Onayiga fondly called Kitchen Practical passed away in the early hours of Monday 18 July, 2022.
Seun Oloketuyi, founder of Best of Nollywood Awards, who broke the news of her demise, said Sola passed away in the early hours of Monday, following a two-week long admission to the intensive care unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital. In a WhatsApp broadcast message, He wrote:
“I have just been informed that the accomplished stage and screen actress and fellow of Theatre Arts Auntie Sola Awojobi Onayiga has passed on,” “Auntie Sola, who is best known for living delightfully the role of Ireti aka cooking practicals in the defunct television sitcom CHECKMATE.

Sola Onayiga will be fondly remembered for her funny use of vocabulary and cooking of odd continental delicacies in the now defunct sitcom Fuji House of Commotion. She will also be remembered for her prominent gap-toothed smiled. Nigerians have expressed shock at the death of the veteran especially coming shortly after news of the death of another veteran Ada Ameh broke. We pray that both their souls rest in peace and their bereaved families find comfort in the knowledge that both veterans were deeply loved for the great skills they showed in their respective acting careers.
