A farmer manager identified as Patrick Olusegun, has been arrested and charged for the alleged theft of chickens worth 5.4 million naira at a farm he managed in Abuja. The 36 year old resident of Lugbe pled not guilty on theft charges before a Kado Grade 1 Area Court on Tuesday 12th September 2023.

The prosecution, Mr Stanley Nwafoaku, told the court that Mr Ajayi Elijah of Wale John Farms, Lugbe, Abuja, reported the theft at the Lugbe Police Station on September 8.Nwafoaku alleged that, in July, the complainant employed the defendant to manage his poultry farm with over one thousand birds. He further explained that when the complainant took stock of the birds, 542 birds worth N5.4 million were missing and Mr Olusegun in his capacity as farmer manager, failed to provide a reason for the missing poultry birds. Area Court Judge, Mr Mohammed Wakili, granted the defendant bail for one million Naira with one surety in like sum. He also adjourned the case
until 10th October 2023.
